Badi Lake Udaipur – Jiyan Sagar (Badi Ka Talab)

Badi Lake, also known as Jiyan Sagar or Badi Ka Talab, is a serene and lesser-crowded lake located in the village of Badi, near Udaipur. Built in the 17th century by Maharana Raj Singh I to counter the devastating effects of famine, this artificial lake is one of Udaipur’s most peaceful attractions, away from the hustle of the city.

The lake was named after Jana Devi, the mother of Maharana Raj Singh, and spreads across an area of 155 sq. km. Its massive embankment stretches 180 meters in length and 18 meters in width, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Aravalli Hills.

Adding to its charm, three beautifully carved stone chhatris (cenotaphs) adorn the lakeside, making it a picturesque spot for photography, nature walks, and quiet relaxation. Today, Badi Lake is one of the best offbeat places to visit in Udaipur, especially for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty.
