Haldighati Udaipur – Historic Battlefield of Maharana Pratap

Haldighati, located about 42 km from Udaipur near Nathdwara, is a famous historical site in Rajasthan that witnessed the legendary Battle of Haldighati fought in 1576 AD between Maharana Pratap of Mewar and the Mughal army of Emperor Akbar, led by Raja Man Singh of Amber.

The name Haldighati comes from the turmeric-colored yellow soil of the region, but history remembers it for the fierce battle where the land was stained red with the blood of warriors. The site is deeply connected to the story of Maharana Pratap’s loyal horse, Chetak, who displayed unmatched valor and sacrifice by saving his master’s life before breathing his last on this battlefield.
